The office staff would also like to take this opportunity to give a quick reminder of what is required prior to soliciting in Elizabeth Township.
An application is required to be completed and reviewed prior to beginning solicitation. The application is available at the Municipal Building OR on this site under "Applications".
In addition to the required application, a Criminal Record Check by The Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp) within the last 30 days is also required to be turned in.
A valid photo ID and payment is required.
The certificate may take up to 2 business days to process if all requirements are met.
Door to door solicitation is only permitted between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. NO door to door solicitation shall take place on Sundays and legal holidays.
All laws, code, and ordinances must be followed when soliciting/peddling.
If you are ever concerned about whether the Township has granted an individual a solicitation permit, you may ask to see their Township issued badge. Their Township issued badge is REQUIRED to be visible at all times while soliciting. The tell-tale ways of spotting a valid badge are:
Photo matching the person soliciting with their name, company, permit number, issue date, and expiration date.
Badge is imprinted/stamped with the Township Seal
Badge is signed by a Township staff member on the back
At the time a permit is issued, all office staff and police are made aware of those soliciting, so if you are ever in doubt, feel free to call either the office or the police for confirmation, and of course, call 911 if you feel that you are in immediate danger for any reason.
At this time only ONE individual has a permit to solicit in Elizabeth Township and has met all the requirements to be issued a permit. Anthony is with Verizon and is permitted to solicit until 10/31/21. The photo on his badge is below.
