SEWAGE BILL PAYMENTS

Sewage bill payments may be made online, in person at the Legal Tax Service office, or at the large white drop box at the Municipal Building labeled “Legal Tax Service Sewage Payments”.

Effective 11/21/22, our current sewage rate is a minimum base rate of $51.00 per month Sanitary use and treatment in excess of 0 gallons per month will be charged at a rate of $10.70 per 1,000 gallons.

Your current sewage is based on the metered water used by your water company. Should you see an increase in your sewage bill over a month or two, it is due to an increase in your water consumption.

You can now view your account electronically, and sign up to go “green” by opting out of mail and going to an email service. You must register your account prior to viewing/paying your bill.

*Please note that this is not a free service.  If you would choose to pay online through Legal Tax Service, a fee of $1.50 will be charged at the time of the payment.

DYE TESTING

Elizabeth Township requires dye testing for ALL property transfers AND sales, unless a property uses a septic system and is not tapped into our sewer system. Failure to do so will result in fines.

A dye test is not required for refinances or properties with a septic system.

Elizabeth Township does not have a list of preferred/recommended plumbers. Property owners may choose a plumber at their discretion as long as they are professionally licensed to practice in Allegheny County.

A member of the Elizabeth Township Sanitary Department must be present when the dye test is performed in order for the test to be considered valid.  Plumbers should coordinate a time to meet with a member of our Sanitary Department to conduct the dye test by calling 412-751-8180 Option One.

TAP-IN PERMIT

A tap-in permit is required every time a property will be tapping into our sanitary system.  The current tap-in permit fee is $2,000.00.  If you are approved for a tap-in permit, it is your responsibility to find a plumber to complete the tap as per our provided checks.
